Start of the Journey
Homeland is one of The Legend of Drizzt novels that is going to be starting off this large and exciting series about the legendary Drizzt Do’Urden and this is the book that is going to introduce you to this character for the very first time. The story takes you to a place in the Realms known as Menzoberranzan, Drizzt’s homeland.
Different
You get to find out in what kind of society Drizzt has to live in and that this character is definitely not the same as everyone else. Drizzt differs a lot from the rest of the drow in his home and this is perceived as very wrong, but the following events will show you why Drizzt might be right about everything that he is doing.
Exile
Underdark
The second novel of Drizzt Do’Urden books is called Exile and the story continues directly after the first book as Drizzt is now in the Underdark, a terrible place filled with evil and dark creatures and a place where definitely no one would like to stay in unless forced.
Drizzt is one of those who has nowhere else to go as he has abandoned his house for reasons that you find out in the first Drizzt Do’Urden novel and the only one to keep him company is his faithful magic panther, Guenhwyvar.
Better Life
You get to find out that these times are definitely not happy ones in Drizzt’s life but the story gets better for him later on. For the time being, he has a lot of things to deal with and he also has to find a better life for himself.

Surface World
The next book in this review is the last of The Dark Elf Trilogy and the book that takes our favorite hero Drizzt to the surface world where everything is new and nothing is the same as the underground world where he has spent most of his life.
Not Welcome
He has spent a whopping 40 years in the Underdark and it is finally time to look for something better. At first, the surface world is not at all hospitable considering his race as dark elves are not exactly welcome in many places on the surface. His journey then takes him to Icewind Dale where he meets a band of heroes with whom a magical friendship will be born.
The Crystal Shard
Icewind Dale Trilogy
The next book starts off The Icewind Dale trilogy which is still a part of the larger Drizzt series and the story in this book is just as exciting as the rest of Drizzt Do’Urden novels.
After moving to Icewind Dale, Drizzt is still not fully accepted but at least he has his friends to make him feel welcome. Drizzt currently spends his days roaming the tundra and fighting off giants and yeti that threaten the people of Ten Towns.
Invasion
One day, Drizzt spots an invasion attempt on Ten Towns and immediately heads home to warn everyone of what is about to come. A huge and exciting battle soon begins in which you get to read about many thrilling surprises. You get to find out if the dwarves manage to defend their home or if everything will be for nothing.
Streams of Silver
Ancestral Home
This next story in The Legend of Drizzt books follows directly after the events of The Crystal Shard and this time, the dwarf Bruenor is leading his friends Regis the Halfling, Wulfgar the barbarian, and dark elf Drizzt Do’Urden on a quest to reclaim Mithral Hall, the ancestral home of his people.
Along the way, a new character gets introduced into the story and one that you will definitely be seeing a lot from in the following Drizzt Do’Urden books of this review.
Artemis Entreri
This new character is known by the name Artemis Entreri and as the greatest assassin in all of Faerûn. He has been sent by Pasha Pook to retrieve the Crystal Shard, a powerful artifact that was stolen from him by Regis.
The Halfling’s Gem
Rescue Mission
After some very exciting events that took place in the previous Drizzt Do’Urden books, Regis is now held captive and his friends Drizzt and Wulfgar race to Calimport, Artemis Entreri’s home, to go and rescue him. In the meantime, it was presumed that Bruenor died in the last book but that is not the case as he managed to survive and now with the help of Lady Alustriel, he is able to get up back on his feet again and go help his friends before it is too late.
In a Rush
After our favorite heroes catch up with each other, they rush for Pasha Pook’s palace to save their friend, and the events that take place there will definitely be ones to remember as you will get to find out all about it for yourself as you get to Drizzt Do’Urden books.
The Legacy
Wedding
This book ends the previous trilogy from the series of Drizzt Do’Urden books and starts a new one, The Legacy of the Drow, in which you learn a lot more about the legendary dark elf Drizzt Do’Urden and much more about the characters around him as well.
This story begins as you get to read about the wedding between Wulfgar and Catti-brie. You get to see these characters get tense, especially Wulfgar who becomes eccentric and highly possessive of everything and everyone around him.
Thibbledorf Pwent
A new character also gets added to this story, his name is Thibbledorf Pwent and he pledges fealty to Bruenor after he saves his life in battle. There are many interesting events that follow in this book, many feuds between old enemies, fights with new enemies, and so much more.
Starless Night
Legacy of the Drow Series
The next book is Starless Night, the second book of the Legacy of the Drow series and eighth in the larger Drizzt Do’Urden books. The story in this book follows Drizzt as he decides to finally return to his childhood home in Menzoberranzan in order to try and prevent another terrible drow attack on Mithral Hall.
Drizzt’s quest first takes him to the terrible Underdark deep in the city of gnomes where he stays for several days. Catt-brie, his friend, decides to follow Drizzt on his journey as she is worried that he might get into trouble so she soon arrives in the Underdark as well.
Captured
The coming events manage to bring Drizzt into a lot of danger as he gets captured and luckily, Catt-brie will be near and hopes to rescue him. It’s up to you to find out whether they get to safety or even worse things follow.
Siege of Darkness
Gods Among Us
Siege of Darkness continues the story of Drizzt Do’Urden books and tells you of a time in the Forgotten Realms when all magic is disrupted for some reason and most of the gods are forced to walk among the mortals in avatars of their own choosing. Drizzt and the company will also be affected by all of this and here is how.
Saving the Day
Many evil beings will try to use this time of chaos as an advantage for their evil and selfish plans and it will be up to our heroes to save the day and make sure the Realms don’t fall into the wrong and evil hands.
Passage to Dawn
6 Years Later
This story in Legend of Drizzt books takes you a bit into the future as this story takes place six years after the events in the book before. The story follows Drizzt, of course, and Catti-brie as they go on another adventure. This time, they will be going out on sea with the company of Captain Deudermont, the captain of the ship they are on, called Sea Sprite.
Feared Force
This ship is actually a very feared force in the Sword Coast thanks to the powerful crew that is on board. This is also the final book of The Legacy of the Drow series and the one in which you get to read about another thrilling adventure that involves many enemies, deceitful events, and so much more.
The Silent Blade
Paths of Darkness Series
The next book we have in our review is The Silent Blade and the first book of the Paths of Darkness series. This one is also the eleventh book in the large Drizzt Do’Urden series and another wonderful adventure waits to be read again.
Wulfgar
The book follows the character known as the wild barbarian Wulfgar. He has finally seen freedom after many years in the Abyss and is having a rough time coping with what has just happened. Many exciting events await on Wulfgar’s road ahead and you also get to see the greatest assassin in Faerûn, Artemis Entreri, make another exciting appearance in this book as well.
The Spine of the World

The next book is one that will be showing you a story about Wulfgar and a friend of his known by the name Morik the Rogue. The story follows these two characters as they are in the middle of being convicted for a crime that they say was not committed by them.
Aegis Fang
This crime that everyone is talking about is the attempted murder of Captain Deudermont. A series of unfortunate events seem to be happening to Wulfgar one by one as, after their exile, his mighty Warhammer known as Aegis Fang has been stolen and sold to a notorious pirate.
Will Wulfgar manage to get his life back together or will things keep getting worse, that’s something that only you can find out as you read further.
Sea of Swords
Search Continues
The story directly continues in this book as this time you get to read about Drizzt and his friends as they are on a mission together that involves getting back Wulfgar’s Aegis Fang, a weapon of great power.
They reunite with Wulfgar after saving his new wife, Delly Curtie, from being murdered in Waterdeep and continue their search for the Warhammer.
Sheila Kree
After some tracking, they locate the pirate who bought the sword when it was stolen and this pirate, known as Sheila Kree, has used the power of the Aegis Fang to become a feared character among the lands. Servant of the Shard
The Sellswords Series
Servant of the Shard is the 14th book following our Legend of Drizzt book order and the first book of Salvatore’s The Sellswords series. The book opens with a character we all know, the greatest assassin in all of Faerûn, Artemis Entreri himself.
Jarlaxle
It follows this man as he has finally regained his will to live after a series of certain events that you read all about in the previous Drizzt Do’Urden books and now his mission is to make his name known once again as the greatest assassin ever. The road ahead will reunite him with the mercenary Jarlaxle and a new and powerful alliance will be born. While all of this is going on, Jarlaxle is in the possession of the Crystal Shard and the powerful artifact is finally beginning to mess with his mind.
Promise of the Witch King
Leaving Past Behind
You will be reading about Artemis and Jarlaxle in this book too as the story here follows directly after the events that took place in the previous one.
These two characters now leave their old past and focus on accomplishing new things. They are both mercenaries now and their new mission is to find powerful artifacts left behind the Witch King Zhengyi.
Dragon Sisters
This mission is given to them by the two dragon sisters, Ilnezhara and Tazmikella. This is the start of another thrilling adventure in which you get to observe many surprises and unexpected events on the road that these two characters are about to go on. This book is the final episode of The Sellswords trilogy and in it, you get to read about Artemis and Jarlaxle one more time as their story together is not yet over. There are many things that take place in the prequel and most of those things connect here, so it’s a good idea to read all of these books one by one if you are to understand the entire story.
Castle Perilous
Artemis begins dating Calihye briefly before realizing that she only wants to kill him as she blames him for the death of a dear friend to her. Meanwhile, Jarlaxle has managed to take control over Castle Perilous before a giant army commanded by King Gareth himself ruins his plans. So many more exciting events like these await to be read by you in the following pages and Drizzt Do’Urden books.
The Thousand Orcs
Obould Many-Arrows
The story in this 17th novel of The Legend of Drizzt books follows a massive army composed of a clan of frost giants and many orcs that are led by the orc King Obould Many-Arrows as they are about to launch a massive attack against the towns of the North. This book is also part of The Sundering series, that you can learn more about in our review.
It Gets Worse
If you think that all of this is bad, wait until you find out that four very devious and clever drow are plotting behind everyone’s backs for their own selfish needs. Drizzt is in the middle of all this and he believes that he sees his friends, the Companions of the Hall, die, and out of anger, he focuses only on killing and slaughtering as many orcs as he possibly can.
The Lone Drow
No Will to Live
The next book in our review talks about Drizzt again as he still can’t believe that he saw his friends get killed. Drizzt feels lost, without a will to live or a sense of purpose and things only start getting a bit better for him after an encounter with two elves and their two pegasi.
Far from Over
After these characters help Drizzt get back on his feet, there is still a huge battle to get back to as the fight against the orcs is far from over. You get to see a few dear characters lose their lives, others badly injured, and even more fun and thrill than before.
The Two Swords
Mithral Hall
The Two Swords is finally going to reveal to you how this long and devastating battle versus the huge army of orcs finally ends. The story opens as you read about how Obould, the orc King, has managed to press Drizzt and his friends to the gates of Mithral Hall. Things are definitely not looking for them and they are running out of options.
Brilliant Plan
You get to see a brilliant plan by Bruenor and his clan as the last attempt to push the orcs back and try to save a few lives. A huge surprise awaits Drizzt as well in this story and that surprise is going to be the highlight of this story. The Orc King
Transitions Series
The Orc King is a novel that starts a whole new trilogy within this larger series of Drizzt Do’Urden books and the name of this trilogy is Transitions series. A thrilling and very important thing to know about this book is that the events in it actually take place an entire century after the events in the previous book, The Two Swords.
Old Foes
You get to read a lot about Drizzt again but also about the orcs and their leader, Obould Many-Arrows. There will be many old characters to see again in this story and you get to see a few of them meet their demise which is definitely unfortunate but an important part of the story.
The Pirate King
Captain Deudermont
The next in the trilogy is The Pirate King and this is the 21st novel of the entire Legend of Drizzt books and in our review. Captain Deudermont will be reappearing in this thrilling book and you get to see a whole new side of this brave character. He has finally seen an opportunity to take back the lost city of Luskan as The Arcane Brotherhood has managed to slip and allow themselves to appear vulnerable.
Taking Back the City
When Drizzt realizes that he can’t talk Deudermont out of going alone and taking reckless action, he will be forced to go beside Deudermont and help him in his quest to take back a city full of pirates. The Ghost King
Spellplague
The Ghost King is the final book of the Transitions series and in it, you get to read about a devastating time in which something known as the spellplague is covering the entire land of Faerûn in darkness and misery.
Exciting Characters
Everyone, both villains and heroes, are affected by this event and it’s definitely not good for anyone. In this story, you get to read about three very exciting characters who are about to become one being that will be known as The Ghost King and make events a whole lot more interesting. These three characters are Yharaskrik, Hephaestus, and Crenshinibon.
Gauntlgrym
Neverwinter Saga Series
This is the 23rd volume on our list of the best Drizzt books and it is the first novel in the Neverwinter Saga series. The story in Gauntlgrym begins in the year 1409 DR and it initially takes place in the vast halls of the dwarven home of Mithral Hall.
We don’t want to spoil exactly what goes on in this story but you will be reading about a lot of tragedies that the famed characters are about to experience.
King Bruenor Battlehammer

Neverwinter
Return to Neverwinter
Following directly after the events of Gauntlgrym, the story follows Drizzt and Dahlia now as they are currently somewhere in the wilderness and are planning for a way to return to Neverwinter.
Different Side
A caravan that appears to be chased by bandits will soon cross their path and this is the event that is about to set a series of events in motion and show to you a whole new and different side of the dark elf Drizzt Do’Urden. Dahlia is together with him on this and things are about to get messy.
Charon’s Claw
Xorlarrin House
Next in our review, we have the 25th book by R. A. Salvatore on our list of Legend of Drizzt books and the third in the Neverwinter Saga. The year in which this story begins is 1463 DR and the first event that takes place is an important meeting of the Xorlarrin House of Menzoberranzan.
New Dangers
Drizzt and Dahlia are going to be the main characters to carry out this story as well as they still haven’t returned to Neverwinter and the new dangers that are about to appear are definitely going to spoil their plans once more.
The Last Threshold
Missing Panther
And the last book in the Neverwinter Saga series and one of the Drizzt Do’Urden books is this one, the novel in which you find out what happens to Charon’s Claw and what course Drizzt and his companions will take now.
Drizzt is determined to find his missing magical panther Guenhwyvar and after that, he asks his companions to take them to Port Llast and help him rebuild it.
Prisoners
A devastating series of events await in the pages ahead and these events are definitely not going to be good for Drizzt and his friends. While they go to rescue his panther at Draygo Quick’s home, a few of them are captured and remain prisoners for nearly one whole year until they are rescued.
The Companions
Companions of the Hall
The Companions is a part of another series as well but it is a stand-alone book in Legend of Drizzt series and the story inside focuses mostly on Drizzt and the Companions of the Hall.
Reborn
After a series of devastating events, Drizzt discovers that the goddess Mielikki has decided to give Catti-brie, Bruenor, Regis, and Wulfgar their lives back as they are reborn as children but with the same memories as before their deaths. While all of this is happening and the children are finding their way to Drizzt, three dark characters are beginning to cause a lot of trouble across the Realms.
Night of the Hunter
Rescue Attempt
Now that the Companions of the Hall have finally been restored, Drizzt decides to go with them to Gauntlgrym to attempt the rescue of their friend Thibbledorf Pwent, Bruenor’s loyal shield dwarf who has unfortunately turned into a vampire. This book is part of the Companions Codex series, that you can read more about in our review.
Won’t Be Easy
However, they will soon discover that this quest will not be as simple as they had planned as unexpected enemies manage to cross their path and force unwanted actions. Their road will take them first through the dark paths of the Underdark where no one has traveled once without getting into some kind of trouble. Let’s now move on to other Legend of Drizzt books.

Rise of the King is the second book in R. A. Salvatore’s series, called Companions Codex, and it is the 29th The Legend of Drizzt book.
In this story, you follow the Companions, of course, as a terrible event known to all as the Darkening is spreading all across the land and the treacherous drow have managed to cause a lot of trouble again as they force even more characters to go to war.

This time, they play their cards to incite the frost giants of the Shining White and two white dragons, Arauthator and Aurbangras, to go to war against The Silver Machines together with the orcs of Many-Arrows.
Vengeance of the Iron Dwarf

The story in this Drizzt Do’Urden book manages to separate the Companions of the Hall once more as they are currently in the middle of a war that is so big that it is beginning to affect the entire land of Faerûn.
Out of Control
At first, they fight for the safety of Mithral Hall but events get to become bigger and more serious as this war gets out of control and danger starts coming from all sides. You get to read separate stories about each of the characters from the Companions as they are all currently in the middle of some tricky situations.
Archmage
Homecoming Trilogy
Archmage is the first book of Salvatore’s trilogy called Homecoming. In this book, you get to read about a story that ends one terrible event and begins a whole new other.
The story follows the ending of the massive war that almost destroyed so much in Faerûn and although everything is peaceful now, Drizzt and the companions know what kind of evil lurks in the darkness and what kind of potential it has.
Dark Forces
Drizzt also knows that there are many enemies who are not done with him yet and when one of those enemies is desperate enough to call upon some very dark demonic forces, the world comes in terrible danger once more. Menzoberranzan
Maestro is one of The Legend of Drizzt books that tells you about a terrible series of events that have struck the land of Menzoberranzan.
A rare event that has never been seen before as this underground city is in so much trouble that Drizzt is forced to march alongside Bruenor and an army of dwarves to end the scourge in Menzoberranzan.
Saving the City
It’s a sad thing to watch as section after section, Menzoberranzan is falling so tragically. You get to find out if Drizzt and his friends are able to save the city before everything falls in ruins and no one is left alive. Also, find out what and why is doing all of this.
Hero
Different Events
This is the third book of the Homecoming series and things are finally beginning to calm down in the Underdark. These final Drizzt Do’Urden books are definitely going to show you and give out hints that the story is coming to an end as the following events are a bit different than the rest of the story in the books.
Final Quest
Drizzt now has one final quest that he must accomplish and this one might not seem like it but it’s going to be a bit more difficult than the rest. Drizzt is determined to find a happy home, a family, and a better future.
Timeless
Special Character
Timeless is the first book of the last trilogy in the top Drizzt books and you are finally getting near the end of this enormous series in which so much has happened. This story follows a character who earned a worthy reputation while all of the madness was going on in the Underdark and in the city of Menzoberranzan.
Weapons Master
This character whom we speak of is a weapons master who would then be a very important topic among the matrons and the great nobles. The two most important characters whom this story will be following are Jarlaxle and Zaknafein and there are many surprises to be discovered along the way.
Boundless
Zaknafein
The second book in the Generations series and one of The Legend of Drizzt books will be talking about the past again as you get to know more about Drizzt’s father, Zaknafein. He perished a long time ago but now, for some unknown reason, he has come back to life after a century of being dead.
Back to Life
This is the story of Zaknafein as he wonders a world totally unknown to him as so much has changed after he died and came back to life again. The story takes you to many different places and lets you meet exciting and interesting characters.
Relentless
Epic Series
Finally, we have the last but most definitely not least book of the large Drizzt series and this is the book that will, unfortunately, be bringing an end to a great and amazing fantasy series. You get to experience the fun, thrill, action, excitement, suspense from the Drizzt Do’Urden one more time.
Reunited
The story takes Zaknafein on a journey to be reunited with his son Drizzt Do’Urden. The reunion will be exciting to read and what is to come is even more exciting. These two legendary drow warriors are about to face the Spider Queen head-on and finally make the ending of this story an amazing one.
