Founded in 1999 at the dawn of the e-book era, E-Reads is the oldest independent digital publisher in the field and an innovative leader in the modern book industry. Our mission is to bring out-of-print books back in electronic and print formats and create an independent e-book market for authors.
An e-book is a book that has been converted into a digital file so that it can be read on the screen of a computer or handheld device generically known as e-book readers. E-book readers have features enabling the user to navigate pages easily, look up dictionary definitions and enlarge the typeface. Readers are light, portable and carry a great many titles, making them ideal for travel as well as reading at home or work.
E-Reads publishes e-books in all popular formats for download in laptop, desktop and tablet computers as well as handheld readers such as Kindle, Sony eReader and BN.Com’s Nook. Among the platforms we support are ePub, MobiPocket, Sony and Adobe Reader. As viable new devices and formats arise, we adopt them.
All E-Reads titles can be downloaded and read on conventional laptop and desktop computers. Fictionwise (www.fictionwise.com), one of the world’s largest e-book retailers, produces MultiFormat versions of our text to make it easy for visitors to find a format compatible with their computers. Although MultiFormat does not have encrypted protection, many readers find it useful for keeping their e-book library on more than one device.
For those who prefer to read traditional paper books, E-Reads makes almost all of our titles available in print editions throughout the world in the English language. They can be ordered from online retailers such as Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble as well as many independent bookstores. Our paperbacks are produced through a process known as print on demand (POD).
Traditional printing techniques produce multiple copies through a process called offset. Print On Demand books are printed one copy at a time, and only to fulfill a customer request. Our PODs are in trade paperback format. They are printed on high-speed presses and shipped to you in about three day's time. By producing our books as PODs, we can guarantee that they never go out of print and are always available for printing and shipping to anyone who needs one copy or many. Because POD is a premium service, copies manufactured by that process cost more than paperbacks produced by offset. E-Reads paperbacks have glossy covers, perfect-bound binding, and are printed on 50-pound paper stock.
These are highly compact POD machines that can be operated in small spaces like bookstores and libraries. You can literally see the book you ordered being produced in front of your eyes.
After selecting the book you want on our website, choose your preferred format (Kindle, Sony, paperback etc.) and click on it. That will take you to one of our branded outlet pages where you can complete your transaction. It’s as simple as that!
Most e-book readers can be purchased on the sponsoring websites. For instance, you can buy a Kindle on the Amazon.com website, the Sony eReader on the Sony site, or the Nook on the Barnes & Noble site. You may also read e-books on cell phones, portable media players and tablet PCs.
If you have not received your order, contact Amazon.com. If your book is damaged, email us at info@ereads.com and describe the problem. We will help you to resolve the issue and have the defective book replaced . E-Reads™ cannot refund money for returned books.
Almost all E-Reads titles were previously published by commercial publishing houses and reverted to the author. We do not accept submissions from authors . If you have previously published books to which you have recovered the rights, send a query outlining your professional background to info@ereads.com
E-Reads will be happy to answer any your questions or forward communications to an author.
Digital piracy and copyright infringement are crimes subject to civil and criminal punishment. They represent a grave threat to legitimate publishing companies and to the hard-earned livings of authors. E-Reads pursues every remedy at its disposal to shut down pirate sites and bring pirates to justice. We ask your cooperation in refraining from downloading pirated or file-shared texts. You will be doing yourself a favor as many of those texts are incomplete, corrupted or infected with virus. Report to us (info@ereads.com) incidents of book piracy.
