My son who's 7 is really into video games. He hasn't really started to read yet. He can read but only to get him through the game. What will be interesting is how this brand new readership of 7-year-olds take to the Kindle, iPhone, apps, enhanced eBooks and the whole host of other stuff coming down the pipeline at them. Oh, and normal books.

Personally if I'm reading a novel, a story and something with a real story I don't want necessarily to be hit with other stuff. However, I do like the occasional image along the way.

How the young reader of today with a plethora of options as to how to 'read' will choose is anyone's guess and the options haven't even shaken out yet. Interesting but nervous times.

I am not sure that I want a Vook in place of a book. One of the joys of reading is that you get to create your own image in your mind, if I have images or videos to go along with my words I may lose that. I use a Kindle for most of my reading now and I find that I don't really care about the covers or the font , I am interested in the story.
